Woodwinds & Brass Video Instructions

Follow the directions on how to upload:

Please follow the following steps:
1. Record in landscape (sideways) mode in the highest quality on your camera/phone
2. State your name and high school at the beginning of the video (ex. My name is John Doe from Jackson High School)
3. State what you are playing before you play it (ex. My prepared piece is called "Adagio")
4. Be sure to record all in one take (non stop)
5. Upload the following:
WINDS:
- Copy of prepared piece (pdf)
- You playing your 12 major scales
- You playing your prepared piece

Woodwinds, and Brass Audition Requirements

AUDITION CAMPAIGN STARTS JAN. 17 - MAY 1
(Students will be offered/awarded on first-come basis)

1- Apply for FAFSA/Financial Aid
2- Get Admitted into JSU (students MUST be admitted BEFORE auditioning- will have to show proof)
3-Audition (virtual and some in-person)
-12 major scales
-Prepared piece [etude]
-Sight-reading

Attributes we look for in members:
1. Character
2. Discipline
3. Musicianship
4. Physical Ability
5. Mental Toughness

Instrument Focus (accepting all):
Double Reeds (Oboe, Bassoon)
Flute/Piccolo
Clarinet
Trumpet
French Horn/Mellophone
Trombone
